THE BLACK COUNTRY

by | Read by Toby Leonard Moore

Mystery & Suspense • 10 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2013

Three members of a family have gone missing from a Midlands coal-mining village in the 1890s. Scotland Yard's Murder Squad is summoned as a spring snow storm approaches. Inspector Day, Sergeant Hammersmith, and Dr. Kingsley find that everyone in the village has something to hide, and the Squad has two days to get to the bottom of it all. The story is self-contained, despite a few returning characters. Narrator Toby Moore has a cultured English accent and does a good job with the dialogue. Additionally, his pace is consistent, and his pronunciation is clear. One can count on him not to hurry even as the plot becomes crowded with extraordinary events.
