Full-cast productions that aren’t dramatizations can be tricky, and that proves to be the case with this one. At times, the mixture of character voices works well, especially when there is a sustained conversation. However, when the long durations of Seth Rudetsky’s voice, portraying the protagonist, Justin, are interrupted by another voice, it can be jolting. In addition, Rudetsky infuses Justin with a high level of energy and a degree of flamboyance, both of which can wear on the listener. In this story of young, misplaced love, Justin attempts to court one of the most popular boys in high school, but, unfortunately, Chuck likes girls. This leads Justin to ridiculous lengths to try to convince him otherwise. L.E. 2013 Audies Finalist © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2013]
