From the start, Briony Sykes catches the suspense and drama of this compelling story. She narrates with conviction and clarity, playing on the complexities and anxieties of the characters to bring them vividly to life. Her sense of timing in dialogue adds to the suspense and the overarching sense that the listener is watching danger unfold from not very far in the shadows. Sykes shifts smoothly between the personal and professional demeanors of the pathologist and the chief inspector, always staying in character, making them both interesting and engaging. J.E.M.
