Keller contrasts what he calls "gospel humility" with selfish pride, which he believes is the natural condition of the human ego. Grover Gardner crisply delivers the author's ideas on how to become self-forgetful--a state in which one's worth and identity are found in Christ. Gardner smoothly recounts the story of apostle Paul's life before and after meeting Christ, which serves as a good example of a transformed sense of self. Keller says gospel-humble people pay no more attention to ego than they do to their toes, "which just work." And that's the kind of attention the ego deserves--none.
