Author Elizabeth Berg has a flair for pinpointing the essence of women's lives—their hopes, dreams, fears, and victories. She strikes a powerful chord with her depictions of women who are evolving, growing, and loving, all artfully revealed in luminous prose. Here narrator Barbara Caruso speaks from the heart of Cece Ross, a perceptive motivational speaker who is downsizing her life by moving into a house with three other women. The trio then embarks on a road trip, immersing themselves in mystical exploration and individual quests for lost chances. Although her timbre sounds too matronly for the characters, Caruso's performance is captivating. And even though Cece’s axioms are too numerous, listeners will enjoy her engagement with her roommates' dynamic lives and her rediscovery of Dennis—"the one who got away."
