MELTDOWN

by | Read by Bob Loza

Mystery & Suspense • 3 hrs. • Abridged • © 2000

Two divers on a research vessel inside the Arctic Circle take ill with symptoms of radiation sickness, and whales found in the area also show high levels of radiation. Oceanographer Brock Garner is called to the scene by his ex-wife, who sends him on a search for the source of a deadly nuclear waste leak. The narration is heavy with technical jargon and complex explanations of scientific phenomena and solutions, at times seeming more like a textbook than a novel. Bob Loza handles the material well, reading in a clear, radio-announcer-style voice. Loza provides little distinction between character voices, but this does not create problems in following the dialogue. J.A.S. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 01]
