Alexander Devoncroix, the leader of the werewolves, tells his son of his own and their people's past, their interactions with humans, and his heartrending love for the human Tessa. Paul Hecht's rich voice enchants the listener, capturing the nuances of the tale with the barest inflections until the human narrator disappears and the werewolf takes his place. Boyd's tale is enthralling, and Hecht's voice is mesmerizing as the themes flow and intertwine to create a story beyond imagination.
