THE RED DRAGON

Exotic opening music sets the tone for this "pulpy" production, which recounts beautiful Betty Sheldon's attempts to complete her father's quest to locate a mysterious black chest hidden somewhere deep in Manchuria. Multiple voices and sound effects are inspired choices that give this production the ambiance of a radio show, which is appropriate for a story that was originally published in the 1930s and feels a bit dated. The energy of the cast matches the plot as Sheldon joins forces with brave, dashing Michael Stuart (a.k.a. the Red Dragon) and outwits villains and armies alike. The narrators' steady, even pace holds it all together. This production will appeal to fans of radio plays and stories from the age of pulp.
