MOSSY CREEK

by | Read by Cecelia Ottenweller

Fiction • 8 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2007

Cecelia Ottenweller does a respectable job narrating this charming collection of short stories written by several well-known authors. Each story focuses on a different character in the fictional town of Mossy Creek, Georgia, whose motto is "Ain't going nowhere, and don't want to." Ottenweller is best voicing the sassy Southern women, bringing out the hilarious quirks of characters such as the mayor who shoots down a new sign she doesn't agree with and an elderly mother who beats up and steals from a new man in town--because she wants him to meet her daughter! Ottenweller is less effective with the stories told from the men's perspectives, but she's still able to keep the overall mood throughout. These are people you'd like to know, so the sum total is a fun audio experience. M.M.G. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2013]
