Narrator Kimberly Farr's wide range of voices and accents adds polish to a saga that moves between the past and present, weaving through the courtship, marriages and familial relationships of numerous individuals and couples who are all linked by a diamond. Farr makes each character shine, especially spunky Frances, who first coined the words "diamonds are forever" and was one of the first women in a man's world. Farr delivers accents well--from James and Sheila's New England twang to Delphine's creamy French accent. As the story blends fact and fiction, offering glimpses into societal attitudes about romance, life, and history, Farr smoothly captures the nuances of each character's personality and experiences.
