BEACON STREET MOURNING

Fremont Jones is a spunky nineteenth-century woman who returns to her native Boston from her new home in San Francisco. She and her boyfriend are detectives, and they immediately put their skills to use when Fremont’s father dies suspiciously. Narrator Anna Fields is wonderful as she recreates the sounds, feelings, accents, and lifestyles of early America. The story is as multilayered as the clues, but Fields keeps Fremont and listeners on track with her spirited account. Of particular appeal is her presentation of creepy scenes.
