Not your typical historical romance, this novel includes a time- traveling protagonist who is also psychic. Narrator Katherine Kellgren infuses Nicola Marter with a feisty and sardonic attitude that will either draw in or repel the listener. While Kellgren sets a fast pace, with one sentence falling into the next, she varies her volume and tone to differentiate clearly between male and female characters. The slightly harsh edge in her unrelenting pitch and rapid pace may grate on listeners who prefer more modulated tones and a contemplative pace.
