Viola Price suffers from serious asthma and has kept the complications of her illness to herself. Coping with an estranged husband and four grown, yet difficult, children and their families is a constant struggle for her. McMillan, Woodard, and Allen are three insightful and talented narrators full of the energy and sass these characters demand. Between Lewis’s escapades in and out of jail, Charlotte’s defensive behavior, and Paris’s successful career and pharmaceutical addiction, Janelle’s pedophile husband, and Cecil’s love affair with a woman half his age, Viola’s strength and advice have just about come to an end.
