One would think that to narrate an audiobook about the Army of Northern Virginia, there should be a little attempt at a Southern accent for quotes by Lee's soldiers and officers, but apparently that is not one of Anna Fields's talents. Her somewhat deep voice becomes deeper though, and her attempt to rescue the sometimes boring narrative with her interest and enthusiasm succeeds to some degree. The reader's words sometimes fade at the end of a sentence, but she is otherwise easy to follow and understand. Although the facts are clear, the organization of the book seems scattered in time and place, making it a challenge to concentrate on and appreciate.
