BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY

Samantha Bond keeps things moving with an energetic performance as the titular protagonist, who is trying to balance the overwhelming intricacies of her life. Bond's lively modulation captures Bridget's kooky moments of insecurity, and her dynamic narration keeps the narrative entertaining even when it threatens to become somewhat redundant and tiresome. Her portrayals of other characters are perfectly suited to their personalities and remain distinct throughout the performance. She offers particularly exuberant articulations of the f-bomb and the word "fart," which is (over)used extensively.
