VIRUS GROUND ZERO

by | Read by Rob McQuay

Contemporary Culture • 12 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1996

One doesn't need to be a scientist to enjoy this whirlwind tour of the world and its diseases, told in sometimes gruesome anecdotes in sometimes fragmented order Rob McQuay only rarely mispronounces the numerous scientific terms, and he reads with a pace consistent with the urgency of life or death decisions. His imitation of JFK's inaugural speech is a classic, and he uses many opportunities to add subtle voice characterizations. Since diseases are always mysteries before being understood (the author likens one viral hunt to a Tony Hillerman novel), readers who enjoy collecting facts that lead to a discovery will be sure to enjoy this audiobook.
