THE VISIONARY ARTIST

A painter and teacher, Alex Grey answers questions from an interviewer about visionary art and the metaphysics of creativity. He describes an approach that doesn’t appear rooted in a particular philosophical tradition and which relies heavily on an expanded, hallucinogenic way of absorbing reality and finding inspiration. Almost half of the program consists of guided imagery or vision practices intended to give listeners access to stimulation from the "inner worlds." Though likely to be confusing to listeners who are grounded in conventional reality, the program will be fascinating to artists who like to push the bounds of experience in one way or the other.
