WHEN IT ALL FALLS DOWN

by | Read by J.D. Jackson

Fiction • 7.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2013

JD Jackson's baritone voice takes listeners into a fictional underworld of churches, where pastors don't behave well and parishioners have long lists of blackmail-worthy grievances. The main character, Nicodemus, is a "church fixer," meaning he travels widely to help churches address various messes that could compromise their ministries. Meanwhile, he himself has lost his faith. Jackson is an excellent choice to narrate this unique take on the crime novel. He gives the main character a brooding tone and provides a variety of voices for the remainder of the characters. His mainstream American accent avoids the stereotypical delivery of urban African-Americans. A densely packed story, well paced and told with feeling, will please those who enjoy spiritually based novels. M.R. © AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2014]
