CHALKTOWN

CHALKTOWN is an audio production made to be read by Leo Burmester. The novel itself is alternately rough and sentimental, raucous and melancholy, with characters that may nurture one another tenderly on one page, then deceive and demean on another. As drama unfolds at home, one young character heads off to Chalktown, a village that communicates solely through marking on slates. Burmester's voice is not unlike the Mississippi setting-- smoky, slow, and sandpapery. He brings the dialogue to life with nuances and an often wry delivery.
