Gillon, the scholar-in-residence at the History Channel, has researched and written a detailed account of the whereabouts and activities of Oswald in the 48 hours after his assassination of President Kennedy. Michael Lackey provides an effective narration, replete with New Orleans and other regional American accents. His pleasant voice holds listeners' attention despite a fair amount of tough slogging through the varying and sometimes contradictory theories on what happens next in the chronological telling. Somewhat distracting is editorial choice to have all the detailed footnotes read as they appear in the text. In some instances, as many as three footnotes are read in the same two-minute period, distracting listeners from the unfolding events. The book remains a fascinating mystery, but the various theoretical frameworks make for a disjointed effort. W.A.G. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2013]
