THE GREAT GOOD THING

As a reader, one looks down at the words of a book and becomes involved with the story. In THE GREAT GOOD THING, the main character, Sylvie, moves beyond her scripted story. The 11-year-old princess yearns to do a Great Good Thing in the world of the reader. Her travels between the two worlds provoke the reader to question viewpoints, time, and change. King Walther, Claire, and the girl with the dark blue eyes are intriguing characters, and Brown depicts each with style as the story switches from the original to the new, unscripted one. Have a finger ready for the stop button. Time is needed to remember Townley's words and to ponder which action might lead to a Great Good Thing.
