The publisher of Matt Christopher, the prolific young-adult sports-themed author, is back with a book that revolves around two close pals who find themselves on opposite teams vying for the Little League World Series championship. Nick Sullivan clearly embraces both ends of the narration: He not only gives every character, major and minor, individual voices but also raises and lowers his tones, matching the energy of a particular scene or dialogue. Be warned: The book tosses a curveball in the form of a cliff-hanger, so don’t expect the end of a game, so to speak.
