Reich, the master of the financial thriller, offers a new story in which a hedge fund manager battles mysterious, malevolent technological forces unleashed by foreign powers. Paul Michael's strong, deep voice lends authority to this compelling "page-turner," even to the weak points in Reich's plot. Michael's pace is excellent, and his diction is always clear. His three primary voices-- "nasal Greenwich patrician," "New York tough guy," and "evil foreigner"--are serviceable but can be confusing, particularly when, for example, two New York tough guys are talking to each other. Despite some plot flaws and racial stereotyping, however Reich offers a good thriller. F.C. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2013]
