Retired teacher Roger Mifflin loves books, so much so that he travels the country peddling them from his horse-drawn wagon home. Deciding he wants to write one of his own, Mifflin sells the horse and carriage to a spinster, then teaches her the trade. Nadia May brings a delightful sense of adventure to this light turn-of-the-century tale. Her characterization of Helen properly expresses resigned acceptance of her weight and fate, and her portrayal of Mifflin bursts with enthusiasm. One senses that May must work hard to suppress her laughter at the twists and turns of the story, as she brings the listener into the point of the plot--that books are fun, and so are book-loving people!
