BURN MARKS

by | Read by Donada Peters

Mystery & Suspense • 12 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1992

V.I. Warshawski, private investigator, is nearly murdered as she pursues corrupt politicians and contractors who are responsible for an arson which almost claims the life of her eccentric aunt. The character of Warshawski, who relates these first-person narratives, is rendered with great style and empathy by Donada Peters. Her British accent is at first incongruous with a character from South Chicago and raises a question of whether this is an appropriate match to the text. But Peters is such a fine reader, her interpretation of Warshawski is so appropriate, and her pacing so compelling that the result is riveting. S.K. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPT 92]
