She includes gorgeous depictions of the lake and its surroundings during each season and describes the horrors of the pollution and other damage harming this precious resource. Listeners feel as if they're beside her as she shares observations and chats with those she meets as well as with family members who occasionally join her on her journey. Particularly compelling are her descriptions of her constant battle with blisters and other maladies. In addition to encouraging others to take on a similar challenge, Niewenhuis inspires us to work towards cleaning up and preserving this and other natural treasures.
