John McCabe, the ghostwriter of the actor's autobiography spent decades working with his subject, and the two became friends for life. His obvious understanding of and affection for Cagney bring insight and clarity to the work. Edwardson's reading captures the author's respect and admiration, while falling short of portraying Cagney's energy and drive.
