WUTHERING HEIGHTS

Flo Gibson's expressive voice captures listeners' attention from her first words in this tale of dark passion on the Yorkshire moors. Gibson offers a credible portrait of each character, making individuals of Mr. Earnshaw; his son, Hindley; daughter, Cathy; and Heathcliff, the "dark-skinned gypsy in aspect" boy he takes in. Childhood playmates Heathcliff and Cathy believe they're destined to be together always, but class reality rears its ugly head when they're young adults. Gibson offers perfect accents for the large number of characters of various classes, and she intensifies her pace and increases the urgency in her voice when events grow dire.
