THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS AND WHAT ALICE FOUND THERE

by | Read by Fiona Shaw

Children Ages 8+ • 2.25 hrs. • Abridged • ©

Enchanting music opens the story and returns as a perfect accompaniment, particularly within the poetry segments. Fiona Shaw uses a lovely conversational style for telling the story. She brings characters to life: Alice conveys a sense of wonder and even pants as she gets away from the house, Humpty Dumpty is critical and grumpy, and the talking flowers are rude and impatient. The sound effects are delightful--the fire crackles, the king's pen scratches the paper as he writes, and best is the purring cat. Finally, "Jabberwocky" is delivered in a rich Scottish accent that is the best ever. Sit back and enjoy. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPTEMBER 2014]
