LAY DOWN YOUR GUNS One Doctor's Battle for Hope and Healing in Honduras

by | Read by Zilah Mendoza

Biography & Memoir • 7 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2013

In an area of western Honduras where drug trafficking and violence are rife, Honduran doctor Amanda Madrid has dedicated her life to serving the disadvantaged. She tends to the health needs of the people in this zone as well as reaching out to them on a spiritual level via her Christian ministry, Predisan. Zilah Mendoza's narration is flat and uninspired in its measured and slow pace. Her Spanish and Southern accents help to distinguish different principals in the story but are not enough to move it along effectively. Dr. Madrid's dedication to ministering to this population is evident, but Mendoza's lackluster narration belies that passion. S.E.G. © AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2014]
