PETTY CRIMES

Soto and Ramirez continue their outstanding teamwork as they present a variety of short stories reflecting the struggles and heartbreak that modern teens face as they grow up poor in America. Ramirez masterfully recreates young adults and the various ages and types of their tormentors. Listeners join Alma as she buys back, from the charity shop, her dead mother's clothes, another girl tearfully faces her grandfather's Alzheimer's, and a young crook is hoodwinked by a cleverer thief. The narrator not only presents each character with realistic distinction but his presentation of the background material/text is also splendid.
