Quiet English towns are not always as quiet as they seem, nor are their unassuming residents always kindly. When four boys go on a rampage to amuse themselves, some quiet lives are changed forever. When a narrator is as accomplished at her craft as Phyllida Nash, it is difficult to find a new set of adjectives to describe her abilities.
