THE STRANGLING ON THE STAGE

Author Simon Brett narrates as amateur sleuths Jude and Carol investigate the death of the leading actor in a production of Shaw's DEVIL'S DISCIPLE. Brett's delivery is fueled by his familiarity with his plot and and characters. His relaxed and easy narration is perfect for a story populated by an eclectic group of people. He effectively portrays both principals and secondary characters, regardless of gender, making it easy to follow the unfolding events, while also emphasizing the narcissism of some members of the drama-loving theater troupe.
