It takes some stamina to get through Pete Bradbury's narration of this thriller, but it's not his fault. That's because Harrison's latest begins and ends with physical torture. In fact, this reader is so proficient at describing it, you can almost feel the pain. It's not enough that a young American flyer is captured and physically tormented by the North Vietnamese, but more than thirty years after he is rescued and "put back together," the now successful corporate CEO is again put to the test--this time by mobsters seeking information he doesn't have. Bradbury's appealing voice lends credence to his characterizations. The Vietnamese and mobsters are distinct and realistic. Bradbury knows how to build a harrowing situation and make the most of this author's dark, if not masterful, plotting. A.L.H. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 02]
