This talky psycho-mystery shifts scenes and viewpoints frequently; it's a reader's challenge, but Rula Lenska is up to it. She's believable as the deranged murderer, a quirky 10-year-old boy, a cop with a phlegmy cough, and tough but vulnerable Elisabeth herself. Given the pace and the maze of plot lines and motives, this tape requires careful listening; Lenska sorts things out better than the heroine. J.B.G.
