Freshman Laurel Harris is delighted to begin college--but then she learns she's pregnant. The scared and shocked young woman is flawlessly portrayed by narrator Kristen Harlow. Listeners will share Laurel's fear as she makes a vital decision and debates how and when to break the news to her dad and the baby's father. Harlow realistically depicts college students, a surprisingly helpful professor, and members of Laurel's pregnancy support group. Laurel's attempts to reach her remote father are painful to hear. Harlow's best portrayal is fellow student Mike--the oldest of seven kids--who falls for Laurel and helps her cope. The conclusion is true to life and suggests a sequel.
