This story told in alternating viewpoints is about a teenage girl and her father who turn to increasingly desperate acts in their independent attempts to find themselves. Jonathan Todd Ross adds emotion to his performance but doesn't create distinctive voices for Gwen, Phil, or any of the supporting characters. Ross's serious tone helps hold things together as Gwen takes to the open sea and the story grows more farcical, but the lack of vocal characterization combined with inadequate pauses between shifts in viewpoint will confuse many listeners during changes in scene and perspective. Some listeners will stick with this for the story itself, an engaging homage to San Francisco and human frailty, but many will lose patience.
