OLYMPIAD

by | Read by Christopher Key

Fiction • 16 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2000

This production offers unsophisticated vocabulary and a simple theme as it recounts the founding of the Olympic Games. Christopher Key's interpretation is skillful, enthusiastic, relaxed, and well pronounced. He uses more exaggerated expression and emphasis on certain words than one would use for adult fiction, the perfect touch for young adult listeners. The author's occasional but lamentable use of vulgar four-letter words may be offensive to some and limit the story's value. Also, some of the grammar ("I'm wiser than him") screams for an editor. The audiobook's most educational feature is the plethora of Greek mythology, names, and customs. J.A.H. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 02]
