PREACHER'S BOY

As unsettling as the turn of the century may be to the townspeople of Leorardstown in rural Vermont, the turmoil in Robbie Hewitt's own life is even greater. Full of pranks, this 9-year-old is out for adventure with his best friend, Willie Beamer. When he befriends a vagabond and his daughter, Violet, Robbie questions his responsibility towards them and his own faith. In facing up to the consequences of his deeds, Robbie's worldview deepens. Johnny Heller's boyish voice mirrors Robbie's changing moods, light-hearted, consternated, or puzzled.
