THE EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY OF THE FAKIR WHO GOT TRAPPED IN AN IKEA WARDROBE

by | Read by Julia Rhind-Tutt

Fiction • 5.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2015

Julian Rhind-Tutt's narration is a near perfect match for this quirky tale of a dishonest Indian fakir who goes to an Ikea store in France to acquire a bed of nails and ends up on a zany adventure that spans several countries. Rhind-Tutt pronounces the many Indian names and words perfectly and uses spot-on accents for every type of foreigner as he brings this unusual story to life. There's just one major flaw: During the lengthy passage in which the fakir writes a novel, Rhind-Tutt sounds as if he's in an echo chamber, which proves distracting. Aside from that, Rhind-Tutt's narration is delightful as the shallow trickster transforms into a caring, likable person. M.M.G. © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2015]
