CAT BURGLAR ON THE PROWL

Best friends Kayo and Rosie form the Care Club, whose mission is to care for their own pets and to help other animals in need. The two sixth-graders find themselves knee-deep in trouble in this adventure. from Peg Kehret's Frightmare series. While overly emotive at times, reader Carine Montbertrand suits this material well; her soprano voice sounds quite young. Overall, pauses and narrative indicators limit confusion, but the story would have been clearer and more interesting had Montbertrand created unique voices for tomboy Kayo and brainy Rosie.
