Marciano traces the history of our nation's relationship with the metric system as far back as the Revolution and explains why it never measured up to American standards. Neil Hellegers's narration meets the needs of the book but doesn't fully engage the listener. He maintains a good cadence and timing with his delivery, but his tone is a bit flat. He never really commands the listener's attention. This quality makes it hard to engage with the cultural history of measurements and how the U.S. came to our current, decidedly non-metric, system.
