The fascinating biography of one of the most influential rabbis in modern Jewish history is competently narrated by Rich Topol. He deals smoothly with many foreign languages, primarily Yiddish and Hebrew, sometimes varying his articulation to create subtle characterizations. For this book, the listener is likely to care more about the subject matter than the narration. Rabbi Schneerson was the leader of the Chabad movement and is most often referred to as the Lubavitcher Rebbe, a title derived from the Russian town of the movement's origin. Because of Rabbi Schneerson, there are Chabad houses all over the world, including many remote places with tiny Jewish populations. His secular and religious knowledge both are considered unequaled.
