THE WHIRLPOOL

by | Read by a Full Cast

Audio Theater • 1 hr. • Audio Program • © 1999

An escaped convict (Stephen Russell) takes hostage the passengers of a ferry, including park ranger Angelina Rose (Jade Rutanen). To make his escape, he must contend not only with the authorities, but with Old Sow, a giant whirlpool. The tale takes turns more romantic than frightening on its way to a conclusion. This radio drama unfolds a bit too slowly, with a lengthy introduction by narrator Philip John Stead that sets the stage by explaining the lengthy and lethal history of the whirlpool. But the wait is rewarding. Excellent special effects make the whirlpool's danger seem real, and a good cast makes the story fun and exciting. J.A.S.
