BLACK OR WHITE, NOW I UNDERSTAND The Work of Byron Katie

by | Read by Byron Katie

Personal Growth • 3 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2001

Sally Jesse Raphael meets psychotherapy in this exploration of race relations, hatred, and inner perceptions. Facilitator Byron Katie helps Stearlene, an African American woman, come to terms with her hostility toward white people and turn it around. Interestingly enough, the discussion between the two women is held before a large, predominantly white audience. The audience responds to Stearlene's tears and laughter with sympathy and laughter of their own. The live recording format of the discussion makes this book unique in its exploration of prejudice and personal responsibility, although at times the pain Stearlene feels and her weeping throughout the process can be difficult to sit through.
