THE X-FILES: COLD CASES

Fans will love it: Mulder, Scully, Doggett, even the Lone Gunmen are back, once more hunting down aliens and solving mysteries. But David Duchovny often sounds like he's reading the script for the first time—and is totally bored with it. The good news is that the enthusiasm of everyone else in the cast makes up for Duchovny's ennui. Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi more than pull their weight. The big bummer is the writing—this would have been one of the TV show's weaker episodes. And, like the X-Files movies, it leaves listeners with more questions than answers because the main plot of ancient aliens returning to Earth is not sufficiently resolved.
