GEORGE WASHINGTON AND THE FOUNDING OF A NATION

A lengthy study examines our first president's life in relation to the American Revolution and the founding of our nation's government and principles. Like nearly all of Washington's biographers, the author provides little insight into his protagonist's elusive personality, aside from his notorious temper. Though the book contains fascinating detail, you'd never know it from Pat Bettino's narration. His is a plodding, uninvested job, barely serviceable and very dull. Y.R.
