TAKEDOWN The Fall of the Mafia Empire

by | Read by Christopher Meloni

Contemporary Culture • 5.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2002

A New York cop goes undercover to expose the Mafia's control of the city's trash collection. Always under the threat of being discovered, the author nearly loses his life. At one point, a recording device in his underwear heats up and almost cooks him before he can get it out. Narrator Christopher Meloni, of TV's "Law and Order," talks so much like a New York cop and the criminals he deals with that it's hard to believe he isn't one of them. The profanity may wilt the ears of the delicate but makes the portrayal of the thugs believable and compelling.
