FINDING FAVOR WITH THE KING Preparing for Your Moment in His Presence

In the Old Testament, a Jewish peasant named Esther prepared for her one-night meeting with a Persian king by humbly seeking the advice of his confidants, taking exquisite care of her body, and fine-tuning the values and intentions that she knew would please the king. Tenney, a prolific teacher and author, does a marvelous job of adapting this story to the challenge of preparing for our one-night meeting with God at the end of our life. In Tenney’s hands, the effort to please God somehow escapes the problems connected to fundamentalist religious authority.
