Rebekkah Ross does a solid job narrating this mystery featuring an apparent suicide, a skeptical friend, and a group of 20-somethings who summer in Littleport, Maine. Reformed local bad girl Avery Greer suspects that her best friend's death was not a suicide at all and begins her own private investigation. Her wealthy summer peers respond with frustration and cruelty, which Ross captures nicely. There's also a cop with questions about Avery. The story's jumps back and forth between 2017 and 2018 take some getting used to, and there are places Ross could pick up the pace a tad. Nonetheless, her performance makes for pleasant entertainment. G.S. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPTEMBER 2019]
